This piece of colorful Terlingua Calcite for sale weighs nearly 2 pounds. It has a significant amount of associated calcite as well. It’s a nice multi-color, multi-wave fluorescent mineral. It has an unusual shape, but sits nicely without propping and can be displayed from multiple angles.
Under long wave ultraviolet (u.v.) light, the piece shows multiple shades of pink, some purple, some yellow and lots of orange. Under mid-wave, it shows nice shades of purple, yellow, and orange. In short wave, it displays a beautiful blue fluorescence. This is one of the classic features of Terlingua Calcite. Its striking blue afterglow or phosphorescence is another classic feature. It lasts for several seconds after being exposed to short wave or mid-wave u.v. The piece also has lots of little triangular areas of bright fluorescence. We find this interesting characteristic in many, but not all pieces of this material.
The piece measures approximately 4½ x 4½ x 3 inches and weighs just a half-ounce under 2 pounds at 1 pound, 15.5 ounces. This nearly 2-pound piece of Terlingua Calcite is SOLD.
